Duckweed workshop: From pond to plate - advancing water lentils as novel food

The European Duckweed Network (EDN) organized a duckweed workshop in Ghent, Belgium, on October 24th, 2025 (09:00–16:30). The workshop focussed on the cultivation of duckweed for food applications.

This website aims to provide an up-to-date duckweed resource for duckweed researchers and enthusiasts, making it a dynamic hub for everything related to duckweed. We hope this initiative will facilitate knowledge exchange and collaborations within the community.

If you think you can contribute to the website, don’t hesitate to reach out! The goal of this website is to co-create it with people working with duckweed around the world, and keep updating this with the help of duckweed experts. 

In addition, we'd like to acknowledge the original Charms of Duckweed website, built by Dr. John W. Cross.  He built the website as a passion project, freely sharing this knowledge and sparking a love for understanding these plants in many people including the contributors to this site.
